Tiny Desk AI videos, shot by shot

Tiny Desk AI is the meme that recasts the 19-second “Outstanding” ending of Charlie Wilson’s 2023 NPR Tiny Desk concert with other people. Here you watch three finished band videos split into their five shots, then make your own: one photo sings lead, or up to five photos fill the band. The result is a 9:16 MP4 with the song, 13, 15 or 19 seconds, 480p to 1080p, no watermark, from 26 credits ($0.72); there is no free video.

Make your Tiny Desk AI video

1. Choose who is in the band

One photo sings lead: the side-on opening line and the laughing close-up. The keys player, the two backup singers and the sax player are invented musicians. 13 s ends on the laugh, 15 s runs into the sax solo, 19 s (Seedance 2.5) is all five shots.

One adult (18+) per photo, face clear from the chest up, no sunglasses or masks. JPG, PNG or WebP, 300–6000 px per edge, up to 30 MB. No children, group photos or public figures.

2. Choose model, resolution and length

Every MP4 carries the Outstanding ending from the meme, cut to your length.

This model stops at 15 s. Pick Seedance 2.5 for the full 19 s with the band’s last shot.

480p · 13s · 9:16 MP4 · the Outstanding ending

This video costs 26 credits, charged when it starts and refunded automatically if it fails.

One video per request. Failed videos return credits; redoing a finished video uses credits again.

What you get: a finished 19-second band video

Five people, one per seat, in the same five shots and with the same song as the meme. Play it with sound.

What does a finished Tiny Desk AI video look like?

These three tiny desk ai videos are complete 19-second band casts of the same Outstanding cut: five different people, one per seat, in the same record-lined room, with the same cuts and the same song. Each card lists who sat where; the shot table below lets you check any result, your own included, shot by shot. The lead is only on screen in shots 1 and 3, so the laughing close-up from 6.7 s to 13 s is where a likeness is easiest to judge. The keys player and the backup singers share the two wide band shots, and the sax player gets one close-up at 13 s. A 13 s or 15 s video stops partway through this sequence; the table shows where.

Which seat does each photo play in the Outstanding Tiny Desk meme?

The outstanding tiny desk meme works because viewers know who is who, so cast by moment, not by photo order. Lead singer mode uses one photo for the lead and invents the other four musicians. Band mode keeps the lead required and lets you fill any of the other four seats: each photo is sent in seat order and named by its seat in the instructions, and every empty seat is a made-up ordinary adult who stays the same person in both band shots. The price does not change with the number of people, so a two-person tiny desk concert AI video costs the same as a full five. Put the person you want to see laughing in the lead seat; the sax seat suits whoever should land the payoff at 13 s.

What do you get in a 13, 15 or 19 second Tiny Desk AI video?

Every length is one generation on its own reference clip, cut from the same 19-second tiny desk outstanding sequence, with the song cut at the same second. 13 seconds is the lead’s whole part and ends on the hard cut after the laugh, which is enough for the joke. 15 seconds adds the first two seconds of the sax solo, the longest a 15-second model makes in one run, so it is the shortest band video. 19 seconds is the full meme with the band’s last shot and the fist in the air, and only Seedance 2.5 makes it. Nothing is stitched from two parts, so the cuts stay where the meme has them.

How do I make a Tiny Desk AI video from my photos?

  1. 01

    Pick lead singer or band

Lead singer needs one photo. Band takes the lead plus any of the keys player, the two backup singers and the sax player.

  2. 02

Add one clear photo per seat

One adult per photo, face visible from the chest up, no sunglasses. A different person in each seat; a screenshot works if the face is sharp.

  3. 03

    Choose model, resolution and length

Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p and 13 s is the cheapest (26 credits). 19 s needs Seedance 2.5. The exact price shows before you start.

  4. 04

    Generate and download

Most videos take a few minutes. Check the laugh close-up and the sax shot, then download the 9:16 MP4 with the song. Failed videos refund automatically.

How much does a Tiny Desk AI video cost, and is any of it free?

Prices are per video in credits and do not change with the number of people. The cheapest is 26 credits ($0.72): Seedance 2.0 Mini, 13 s, 480p. A band video starts at 30 credits ($0.83) because it needs 15 s, and the full 19 s starts at 198 credits ($5.49) on Seedance 2.5. Dollar values use the Creator Pack rate, the lowest price per credit; smaller packs cost more per credit. Every model, length and resolution:

Do five faces stay in their own seats through the cuts?

The setup is built for it: each photo is tied to a seat instead of being handed over as a loose group. The photos are sent in seat order, and the instructions name, for every shot, which seat is on screen and which photo that seat uses, so the sax player’s face is asked for only in the sax close-up and the keys player’s only in the band shots. Seats without a photo are described in words as invented musicians, which keeps them from borrowing a real face. The three examples above are full five-person casts in which every seat keeps one identity through all five shots.

To help it, use five clearly different people, one photo each, face sharp and lit from the front. Do not upload the same person for two seats, and avoid faces cropped from group photos, where the model may take the wrong one.

It is not guaranteed. The band shots show three people small and moving, so a backup singer can come out softer or slightly off, and Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p holds small faces least well. If likeness matters in the band shots, use 720p or Seedance 2.5, and check the last shot, where the left backup singer holds a sax but should keep their own face.

What can’t a Tiny Desk AI video do?

  • No other song or choreography

Every video follows the same five shots, cuts and Outstanding ending. You cannot pick another track, change the camera or write a prompt.

  • No silent copy, no 16:9

The MP4 is 9:16 with the song only. To post without the song, mute it in your editor or in the app.

  • Hard photos

Profile-only shots, sunglasses, heavy filters, tiny faces cropped from group photos and dark selfies drift most, above all in the laugh close-up.

  • Children, pets and public figures

Adults who agreed only. Pets are not supported in any seat, and photos of public figures are not allowed.

  • Hands and instruments

Fingers on the keys and the sax can bend or merge for a frame or two, most often at 480p.

How does it compare with other Tiny Desk AI tools?

ChatGPT most often recommends these three tools for the meme. Their numbers below are the ones each site publishes, checked on 30 October 2026; anything a site does not publish is marked as not published. All four recast the real Outstanding cut rather than a generic ai concert video stage with other music.

Where does the Tiny Desk AI trend come from?

The tiny desk ai trend started on 18 October 2026, when a TikTok titled “College Football’s Week 8 All-Loss Tiny Desk Concert” put that week’s losing coaches into the last 19 seconds of Charlie Wilson’s NPR Tiny Desk set. It passed two million views within a week and spread into NFL, Dallas Cowboys and political versions, so it is also called the tiny desk meme, the All-Loss Tiny Desk, the Outstanding Tiny Desk AI video or Charlie Wilson Tiny Desk AI. Generic tiny concert AI tools that invent a new desk set with other music are a different thing.

The tiny desk meme song is The Gap Band’s 1982 “Outstanding”, which Charlie Wilson, the band’s lead singer, used to close the Tiny Desk concert NPR Music published in June 2023; the part people copy starts near 23:46 of NPR’s video.

A Tiny Desk AI video is a parody edit, not an NPR performance, and it is not affiliated with NPR or Charlie Wilson. Label yours as AI when you post it.

Tiny Desk AI FAQ

Is a Tiny Desk AI video real NPR footage?

No. However much it looks like a tiny desk ai live session, it is an AI recast of the last 19 seconds of Charlie Wilson’s 2023 Tiny Desk concert: the room, cuts and song follow the original, but every face is generated. Real NPR footage shows the actual band; an AI version shows people who were never at the desk, often with small giveaways such as bent fingers on the keys. Label yours as AI.

Can I make a Tiny Desk AI video for free without a watermark?

Not here: unlike the tiny concert ai free offers you may see elsewhere, there is no free video, and the 3 sign-up credits do not cover the 26-credit minimum. No video carries a watermark. The cheapest is 26 credits ($0.72) for a 13 s lead-singer video at 480p.

What photo stops the face from warping in the laugh close-up?

A sharp, front-facing photo from the chest up, eyes open, even light, no sunglasses or heavy filter. A photo in which the person is already smiling with teeth showing gives the model the most to work with for the big laugh. Avoid profile shots and faces cropped from group photos.

Why does the singer’s face change halfway through?

The lead appears in two shots: side-on at the start, then the close-up from 6.7 s. Drift happens when the photo is small, side-on or filtered, or at 480p on Seedance 2.0 Mini. Try a clearer photo, 720p or Seedance 2.5; failed videos are refunded, finished retries cost credits.

What is fixed before I pay?

The length (13, 15 or 19 s), the resolution, the model, the song and the absence of a watermark are all shown before you start, with the exact credit price. Credits are charged when the video starts and returned automatically if it fails.

Do I need five photos for the band?

No. Band mode needs only the lead singer; add photos for any of the other four seats and the rest are invented musicians. Two people cost the same as five. Lead singer mode uses one photo.

Can I post it with the Outstanding song, or use it in a sponsored post?

The MP4 includes the song cut to your length. Platforms may mute or limit copyrighted music, especially on business accounts; if a post is muted, add “Outstanding” from the app’s own sound library instead. For an ad or a sponsored tiny desk ai post, get music and likeness permission first.
