How to Do the Unforgettable Car Trend: 3 Ways

How to do the Unforgettable car trend three ways: film it and cut on the swipe for free, use a CapCut template, or make it with AI from one selfie photo.

Last updated: 2026-10-14

To do the Unforgettable car trend, film yourself talking to the camera, raise red 2 and 4 cards that read 24, sweep your hand across the lens at about 4.5 seconds, and cut to a shot with a car parked behind you. Set it to "Unforgettable" by French Montana. No car? Make it with AI from one selfie.

Filming it yourself is free but needs a real car. A CapCut template saves editing but still uses your footage. AI needs only a photo of you. New to the format? Read what the Unforgettable car trend is first.

What do you need before you start?

  • For filming: a phone, a car you can stand in front of, two red number cards (a 2 and a 4, from an UNO deck or drawn on card), and ideally a tripod or something to prop the phone on.
  • For a template: the same footage, plus the CapCut app.
  • For AI: one clear photo of you, face to the camera, shoulders in the frame. Optionally, a photo of the car you want.

What is the timing? The beat sheet

Whichever route you choose, this is the second-by-second timing remakes follow, measured from the original clip by @y0kun:

  • 0–1.5 s: glance away, then turn to the camera.
  • 1.5–3.3 s: talk to the camera, one hand near the face.
  • 3.3–4.3 s: the 2 and 4 come up to the lens, reading 24.
  • 4.3–4.8 s: the hand sweeps across and covers the lens (about 4.5 s).
  • 4.8–5.5 s: the hand clears and the car is parked behind you.
  • 5.5–11 s: point back at the car with a thumb and look back at it.
  • 11–12.5 s: hands on the head, walk out of the frame.
  • 12.5–15 s: the car alone in the frame.

Route 1: Film it yourself and cut on the swipe (free)

This is the classic way to film it, and it costs nothing if you have access to a car.

Shoot the two clips

  1. Fix the phone in place. Use a tripod or prop it at chest height. If the phone moves between takes, the cut will jump.
  2. Clip A, the setup: stand where the car will be visible behind you, but with the car out of shot or not there yet. Do beats 1 to 4: look away, talk, raise the 2 and 4, then sweep your hand over the lens and hold it there for a second.
  3. Clip B, the reveal: move the car into place behind you (or reframe so it is in shot). Start with your hand covering the lens, pull it away, then do the rest: point at the car, hands on your head, walk out.
  4. Keep the light the same. Film both clips back to back.

Cut on the swipe in CapCut or Instagram Edits

  1. Import clip A and clip B into the same project, in that order.
  2. Trim the end of clip A to the moment your hand fully covers the lens.
  3. Trim the start of clip B so it begins with your hand still covering the lens.
  4. Play it back. Your hand hides the cut; if you still see a jump, trim a few frames.
  5. Add the trend sound and slide the clip so the hand swipe lands at about 4.5 seconds, on the drop.
  6. Export in 9:16. Whether a watermark appears depends on the app's export settings, so check them before saving.

Route 2: Use a CapCut template

Search CapCut for the car trend or 24 card templates. A template sets the timing and sound for you, then asks you to drop in your own clips.

  • You usually still need the car. Templates rearrange your footage; they don't invent a car behind you.
  • Cost depends on the template. Some are free, some need CapCut Pro.
  • Watermarks depend on the template and your plan. Check before you post.

Route 3: Make it with AI from one selfie

No car, no second take, no editing. On Unforgettable Car AI everything runs in your phone's browser (Safari on iPhone, Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android); there is no app to install.

  1. Sign in and upload one photo of you. One person, face to the camera, shoulders in the frame. JPG, PNG or WebP.
  2. Pick a car. Choose one of three preset cars, each parked in its own place, or upload a photo of any car: yours, a rental, or the one you want. For your own car, use a photo with the whole car in view, at a three-quarter angle, in daylight.
  3. Keep 9:16 and choose a quality. 480p is 167 credits, 720p is 362 and 1080p is 633.
  4. Press Generate. It usually takes several minutes. You can close the page; the video shows up under My videos.
  5. Download the MP4. It is 15 seconds, carries the trend sound and has no watermark.

There are no free credits. The Single Reveal pack is $5.99 for 170 credits, which covers one 480p video; larger packs are on the pricing page. Credits are valid for 365 days, and a failed video is refunded automatically.

How do you post it from your phone?

  1. TikTok: upload the MP4. The file already has the trend sound. To appear on the sound's page, add "Unforgettable" from TikTok's library and turn the original audio down.
  2. Instagram Reels: add the song from Instagram's audio library, or keep the file's audio.
  3. YouTube Shorts: add it from the Shorts audio library, or keep the file's audio.
  4. Label it if it is AI. TikTok, Instagram and YouTube ask creators to label realistic AI-generated video. Turn on the AI-generated label when you post.
  5. Don't flip the video. Post the file as it is, so the 2 stays on the left.

If you replace the sound, use the trend's own sound rather than the full song, so the drop still meets the swipe.

Troubleshooting: what usually goes wrong?

  • The cut is visible (filmed route). The phone moved or the light changed. Fix the phone in place, refilm back to back, and cut while your hand covers the lens.
  • The swipe misses the beat. Another cut of the song was added, or the clip was shifted. Use the trend's own sound and line the swipe up at about 4.5 seconds.
  • The 2 and 4 read 42 or look mirrored. The front camera or an editing app flipped the image. Check that the 2 is on the left in the final video, check whether your phone mirrors front-camera footage, and don't flip the clip in the editor.
  • Your face doesn't look like you (AI route). The photo had a small, side-on or filtered face. Use a front-facing photo with the face larger in the frame and no filter.
  • The video is blurry or soft. 480p, or a low-resolution photo. Choose 720p or 1080p and a sharper photo.
  • Strange hands or shadows. Hands near the face or a busy background in the photo. Use a photo with hands down and a plain background.
  • The car's colour or shape changed. The car photo was cropped, dark or side-on. Use the whole car in view, in daylight, at a three-quarter angle.

A video that finishes but looks off is usually fixed by a better photo, not a higher quality setting.
